MASTERS - Camping Near Augusta National

A couple of friends and myself just got the word that we got tickets for the Monday practice round at the MASTERS. We are going to take the TT and make a boys trip out of it. Anyone ever camped near Augusta GA? Any insight to campgrounds and ammenities near there would be appreciated. We'll be going from Omaha to August via St Louis and Nashville so any words of wisdom about the route would also be appreciated... Thanks

RE: weight limits for entry steps and furniture

Maybe I am of the minority here but there are three of us in my family and I bought a TT that sleeps 9 just so I could share with my friends and family. Is that strange, maybe I am stupid for wanting to share the wealth and spend time, build memories and share with great friends and family...

RE: weight limits for entry steps and furniture

I am 6'5" and 350 lbs so maybe I can give some advice. Most of the time people who are larger are very aware of situations that the normal sized person never think twice about. "Will that chair break when I sit on it", "Can I fit in that sub-compact car", etc. etc. So I am certain she is aware of these situations. WITH that being said... I assume you are talking about the bottom bunk of your bunk beds? Obviously the top wouldn't be a good situation so I dont anticipate that would come into play. Bottom bunk, she'll be fine... Furniture, that depends on where she is sitting and on what. If your dinette area has the bench seating with the under seat storage covered with 5/8 plywood she'll be fine. These are made for two adults so don't worry. Offer her a hard plastic chair to sit on and that may be a different story. My jackknife couch works fine with me on it as a matter of fact I had my brother and I both sitting on it watching football one evening (he makes me look SMALL) and it is no worse for the wear. Steps, Mine have always been very sturdy BUT I have gone to using two pedistals under them in the last couple of trips so they dont become bad down the line. Cheap, easy and provides very sturdy steps for everyone, not just the big folk... Toilet - I use mine all the time with no problems but I dont fit real well but it has maintained its stability and I have had no issues. Whatever you decide to do is totally up to you but you may just be making her day by accomodating her. If you feel you must say something to her then pull her off to the side early on in the trip and just explain your concerns to her as you hand her a beverage. I feel "un-inviting" her would be in bad taste. JMTC - Bc

RE: Mounting to thin plywood walls

Yes, mounted mine with one screw and then a piece of velcro, works great. Outside I mounted the remote sensor with velcro on back side of the propane tank cover near the battery, it helps having it there as whenever I leave its easy to notice and I won't forget to put it back in the TT. B

Eastern Nebraska Campsites - FYI

Most of you are smart campers and have had your reservations for Labor Day weekend for quite some time BUT if you're looking for a site on a first come first served basis here is a little news. Lousiville SRA is totally FULL, I called this morning and the filled the last "first come" site last night. I called Two Rivers after that at about 10am and they had 13 sites left, by the time I got there over lunch there were 2 left and another camper and I took them. B

RE: hopefully labor day goes as planned

Don't count on getting a first come first served site. Now I am not in you neck of the woods but I just contacted an SRA near hear which has over 300 sites of which HALF are first come first served and they had just sold their LAST site last night. I called another one about a hour ago and they have 7 sites left. As its only about 30 minutes from here I am heading there in 10 minutes to see about getting one but its amazing how fast things fill up. Good Luck

RE: Scissor (stabilizer) jack parts

What a PITA that is. I had the same thing happen to two of my stabs and have yet to find the part. They still work for cranking them down to stabalize but cranking them up I have to crank a little bit, raise the jack by hand, crank a little bit more, raise by hand and then wire them up when all said and done. I did try using a couple of cotter keys in each hole but they arn't really sturdy enought and the washer pulled right over them after about the second try.

RE: To sanitize again - or not?

I MUST be missing something. Everyone says its SO easy to sanitize your water system which in all reality it's not physically hard but don't you have to have a readily available hook up in which to dump you tanks so you can refill and dump again to get all the bleach out.

Battery/Electrical - Can I make it

Okay, so I blew it for this weekend and didn't get a reservation and have no possible way of getting a first come first served site with the way things fill up around here on holiday weekends and our schedule. This has really been our first summer of serious camping and we love it, with that being said I have a plan to work toward gearing my TT toward boondocking over the winter (a generator is on the christmas list, a second battery and a little bigger inverter, etc) Well, I can still find "no electricity" sites for this long holiday weekend but none with electricity so give me some advice on making my battery last... :) We wont/cant run the AC, dont need the TV, wont/cant run the microwave. We have LED and standard battery lighting so we wont need to run the lights very much at all. We will need to run the fridge but I'll keep it on propane, the water pump will run, the slides in and out once and maybe that's it. Anything I am missing? Will it last Friday to Monday, I know I could hook up the TV to charge things up a bit but I also know thats not very practical or convenient and is very slow. Thanks for your input... B

RE: Feeling Ripped Off

Doesnt it really depend on how the business part of the deal worked? Did you get a certain percentage off the MSRP on the new trailer. Two different scenarios actually. A. You bought a new TT for 15K paid full price and got a $1200 trade in allowance for a net price of $13,800 or B. You bought a new TT priced at 15K, offered 11K and they gave you $1200 for trade in value for a net price of $9,800.... The answers are then; Scenario A - YES Secnario B - Maybe not so much Happy Camping :B

RE: Maiden Voyage here we come!

Congratulation. You are in for a good time. Think foldable and compact when you think about packing your TT and don't think you'll have everything you need on your first trip but don't stress about it, its all part of the adventure...

RE: Ok Need comments again before I make my choice

Dont know much about either but I know I wouldnt buy a TT without at least ONE slide. Go with the slide, you'll be glad you did... With that being said the one with the slide will probably be heavier, dunno about your TV...

RE: Hitching up

When the WDH is tilted sometimes the ball will be tilted and it causes a little issue with the coupler locking onto the ball. I have found that when it does I have had to go ahead and finish my hook up and add tension to the WDH bars to pull the ball closer to level. When its level and locks on you can go ahead and raise the TV with the jack and take up the rest of the linkage you might need...

RE: koa vs good sams

Sorry, A KOA I know wants about $42 a night over labor day weekend for 30 amp with water and "feel free to use our dump station on the way out"... I guess I feel thats a little high when I can pull up others and nobody wants more than $32 a night and some as little as $21. JMHO ;)
